Lorong Halus Wetland

At Lorong Halus Wetland, CPG led the transformation of a former landfill into a thriving natural treatment system through advanced hydraulic modelling, environmental engineering, and nature-based solutions. Detailed modelling of surface and subsurface water flows informed the design of wetland cells, weirs, and bypasses to optimise treatment performance and prevent leachate risks. The wetland was engineered as a multi-stage filtration system using vegetated subsurface and surface flow zones, gabion dams, and swales to purify runoff from the Punggol and Serangoon catchments. Ecological engineering enhanced biodiversity through gradual slopes, restored planting media, and habitat corridors. Now a national showcase aligned with PUB’s ABC Waters programme, the wetland balances water quality, flood resilience, and ecological and community benefits.
